What if it didn’t have to feel this heavy with type 1 diabetes?
Not perfect.
Easy.
Or effortless.
But just… lighter.
Because for a lot of people, it starts to feel like:
- constant pressure
- constant thinking
- constant responsibility
And over time, that weight builds.
What If It’s Not Just You?
It’s easy to assume:
👉 “This is just how it is”
👉 “I just need to get better at handling it”
👉 This is what people get wrong.
Because what if it’s not just about how you’re managing your type 1 diabetes…
👉 what if it’s about how much you’ve been carrying?
Is this feeling close to home? It’s in no way simply about just trying harder – and more about coping better with the mental side of T1D. That’s why I’ve put together – The 7 Things About Type 1 Diabetes No One Tells You but You Deserve to Know. Get it here – it’s free
What If It’s the Mental Load?
With type 1 diabetes, you’re always:
- thinking ahead
- making decisions
- adjusting things
- staying aware
Even when nothing feels urgent…
👉 your brain is still working
So what if it’s not that you’re doing it wrong…
👉 what if it’s that it’s been too much for too long?
Why It Starts to Feel Heavy
It doesn’t happen overnight.
It builds.
Until:
- everything feels like effort
- small things feel bigger than they should
- you start to feel worn down by it all
👉 This is where things start to shift.
Because instead of asking:
👉 “How do I manage this better?”
What if you asked:
👉 “How do I make this feel lighter?”
What If It Could Feel More Manageable?
Not by doing more.
But by:
Releasing the pressure valve
You don’t need to get everything right all the time.
Simplifying things
Less thinking = less mental load.
Giving yourself space
You don’t need to carry it all at once.
Letting “good enough” be enough
Perfection adds weight you don’t need.
If This Feels Familiar
If what if it feels like something you’ve been needing to hear, you’re not the only one.
You can start here:
FINAL THOUGHT
What if it doesn’t have to feel this heavy all the time?
Not gone.
Not fixed.
But just…
👉 a little easier to carry.
Yours as always,
Pete
